The mission of Eclipse Plugin Central (EPIC) is to provide an open source, on-line community portal that allows developers and end users to find quality, relevant Eclipse based technologies and services.
EPIC was founded in 2004 by The Eclipse Plugin Central Alliance (composed of Eclipse Foundation members Genuitec, Innoopract, and Instantiations). The Alliance cooperatively invested in creating the eclipseplugincentral.com portal site. EPIC quickly became one of the most popular web destinations in the Eclipse Ecosystem.
In 2006 the founding members donated the portal to the Eclipse Foundation with the goal of providing even greater service to Eclipse Foundation members, the open source community, and anyone interested in Eclipse. EPIC is now operated and governed by The Eclipse Foundation as part of the Phoenix open source project.
EPIC has evolved into a reliable and professionally managed information source for Open Source and commercial plugins and other items of interest to the Eclipse community. Today, EPIC adds value by offering a plugin directory, reviews, ratings, news, forums, community, and listings for Eclipse-based products and services.
For more information about the content that we publish to EPIC can be found here: EPIC Publishing Guidelines.
