We are pleased to announce an early alpha version of Jupe, an UML plugin for Eclipse. The project aims to provide support for the creation of UML diagrams by the user, from source code (reverse engineering) and also the creation of source from diagrams. Moreover, we want to provide automatic synchronization between source code and the diagrams. Jupe is developed as an open source project by a team of six students in Paris.

Currently we are focusing on class diagrams und the Java programming language. The released version already supports the most important parts of the UML standard, the creation of class diagrams by the user in a friendly editor or from Java source code. Also, we provide loading and saving of diagrams, as well as export to XMI. Being still alpha, the current version is far away from being useful for daily work. Some of the missing features are the creation of source code from diagrams and an automatic layout of class diagrams. Following the motto "release early, release often" we nevertheless want to give a first glance of our work hoping to benefit from your feedback.
