Innoopract Makes Web Tools Available for Eclipse Release Build 3.0.2

Posted by: evonder - on Friday, April 22, 2005 - 07:26 AM

Innoopract announced today the release of Yoxos 1.5 including Eclipse 3.0.2, and over 130 plugins including Business Intelligence and Reporting Tools (BIRT), Web Tools and Testing and Performance Tools (Hyades).

Web Tools free download for Eclipse 3.0.2 only at Yoxos.com
Innoopract has ported the latest Milestone of the Eclipse Web Tools Platform to Eclipse Release Build 3.0.2 and made the tools and the source code available on its Eclipse distribution site www.yoxos.com. The Eclipse Web Tools Platform Project, led by Eclipse Board Member BEA, extends the Eclipse platform with tools for developing J2EE Web applications. Its 1.0 release based on Eclipse 3.1 is targeted for July.

Developers who prefer to develop on the release versions of Eclipse rather than the milestone builds can now also benefit from Eclipse Web Tools. Says Innoopract President Jochen Krause: “Part of our strategy with Yoxos is to give Eclipse developers a single location to keep themselves up-to-date with their Eclipse platforms. As a member of the steering committee for Web Tools, we are also committed to making Web Tools as successful as possible. Porting Web Tools to the Eclipse Release 3.0.2 helps achieve both of these objectives while giving developers interested in Web Tools the freedom to choose their version of Eclipse.”

Web Tools can be downloaded for free as a whole or as separate packages for XML Editing, Web Editing and J2EE development. The Web Tools are also bundled on the newest version of Yoxos providing the benefit of the Yoxos Install Manager plus many other features and plugins.

Yoxos 1.5 is Available and Includes BIRT, Hyades and much more
Yoxos offers developers the opportunity to get the most popular development environment – Eclipse – and numerous useful open source plugins from a single source. The new release extends the Eclipse release version 3.0.2 with new plugins including the Business and Intelligence Reporting Tools (BIRT), Eclipse Test and Performance Tools (TPTP) and more.

BIRT is an open source, Eclipse-based reporting system that integrates with a J2EE-based web application to produce reports for both Web and PDF. Led by Eclipse foundation member Actuate, BIRT extends Eclipse with reporting functionality such as lists, charts, crosstabs, and compound reports. “We are glad to hear that a milestone build of BIRT has been included in Yoxos, and will be excited to see BIRT 1.0 incorporated once it is ready in mid-May", said Mark Coggins, BIRT Project Management Committee and Eclipse Foundation Board Member. "BIRT will be even more accessible once distributed via Yoxos, enabling Business Intelligence and Reporting functionality to be rapidly developed to add value to a greater volume of strategic applications and their end users."

TPTP, also known as Hyades, is an open development platform supplying frameworks and services for test and performance tools.

Yoxos also includes up-to-date plugins in the areas of Eclipse SDK, languages (Java, C, C++, Python, PHP, Groovy etc.), database, Web development, modelling and much more.
