I like it, I am afraid is going to be an orphan project. I do not see to much action around this plugin.
It is missing some important things as on the fly spell checker.

Looking good, but a bit more polish needed to really be a killer plugin. Right now it is almost as good as standalone apps like Kile or TechnixCenter, so hopefully soon it will surpass!
Great work.

It has bugs on code wrapping, dvi viewer integration and many other little things (you know... "God is in the little things") have bugs that can be annoying, specially in the editor(!). Also it lacks of the "fix me" functions on lines with errors. It would be interesting if there were a panel with latex symbols as in texeditor and indentation or a latex-formatting tool, an eclipse-integrated viewer , a better project administration system... Beside all things a have said, I thing that THIS IS A GOOD IDEA!, and I hope this plugin to evolve a lot more.

Good plugin.
Request: Add an internal viewer. (So it doesn't rely on xdvi)
Improve the line numbering: Ctrl+L (emacs binding) does not center the current line on the screen.

Very good plugin especially when combined with Eclipse cvs feature. However, regular StackOverflowErrors raise in when updating annotations (I guess for parenthesis matching). Eclipse survives, but it is pretty annoying to have a popup every 2 seconds until adding a new line at the right place.

I've been working with LaTeX for 15 years now. Using Eclipse for programming in several languages, TeXlipse gives me everything needed to do the LaTeX job. This alone would be enough, but it has to be said that TeXlipse is one of the best LaTeX IDEs I ever used.

I installed the Latex plugin for Eclipse yesterday (Nov. 22, 2007), and liked it very much :-)
It is way much better than the plain text editor for editing latex source.
One question:
After running spell checker inside Eclipse IDE, is there a way to feedback into the spell checker ?( e.g., add a new word to spell checker's database).
Thank you

Good plugin, especially for experienced eclipse users. I recommend this plugin, cause you can use eclipse-feateres like cvs in combination, and especially eclipse is availible under several platforms, like Mac OS X and Linux. So you've got the same editor under these enviroments. Great plus for that fact! Only problem is the tex-distro / viewer under these other platforms, where you've got to invest extra configuration time, to get it working. But once working, you can edit your texfiles under any OS. Only 9 points instead of 10 cause of the little tricky working dvi-inverse search, I've never managed to get running on a Mac. But still, great work, thank you for providing such a tool!

The plugin is very helpful. However, it would be nice if it allowed specifying the order and number of times for the project to be compiled, ex:
LaTeX
BibTeX
LaTeX

It would also be nice if it had more symbols in its list, as well as dialogs for inserting images. Thanks for the plugin!

i find this plugin very good and very useful. I used it just for two days now, what i discovered so far is very useful.
It has some problems. E.g. the intergrated builder is not optimal:
* after build a complete workspace refresh is done
* good tex code parsing, but some items are not recognised, like "thebibliography"

This plugin beats the devil! It's so fantastic, that I will recommend to all of my peers and collegues.
Well... there are a few things, that must be improved... but this is the firmest plugin (versioned above 1.0) I've ever seen for eclipse!

One of the best LaTeX editing environments I've seen so far. on-the-fly building is a must. I believe it can convince wysiwyg fans to come to the bright side of typesetting.

Hi folks,
this is becoming the definite Plugin for Authors! I'm on boat from 0.something and I like really how this team evolves the functionality from an author's point of view. Really well well done.

I love it! I got Eclipse for the sake of this plug-in. The outline is very helpful, and so are tooltips for macros and bibliographic entries. Thanks!
One thing that I miss is quick bookmarks (e.g., Ctrl-F2 to set/unset a bookmark without naming; F2 to search for next bookmark, as in Scite), because I am not used to the Eclipse way yet.

A few bugs still, but very useable. LaTeX should not be typed any other way, bye bye emacs at last.......

this tool has promises, but during the course of my try out (about 2 hours), couple of things make it not as productive as I thought, and as much as I want to stay on it, I revert back to my previous editor, winedt.
"User wait for operation" frequently called up, and it won't disappear unless I manually cancel it.
There are apparent lagging when you type; Wrapping text is not working properly when I have math formulas; and finally, the pdf viewer is not intelligent enough to re-read the newly generated pdf file, instead it complains that it can't write to it if it is aleady opened.

Simply amazing. I have always loved LaTeX, and was used to VIM (anothe great tool), but I lacked a windows-friendly environment (i.e. an INTEGRATED environmente. I had piled a couple of editors and tools to simulate one). Built on eclipse TexLipse rimple (please forgive me for being such a fanboy) RULEZ. Incredible support for auto-complete, hints, and suggestions, etc. Lovely. The ability to see errors realtime-ish (and presented in a such a clear way, not as latex messy criptic console output) is priceless.
Keep up the good work. This plugin should really have a LOT more publicity. IS a must-have for all us latex lovers.
(Hey, I said i became a fanboy. Yes, I love writing my own makefiles and such, but, what the hell, this plugin just rocks.)

very usefull, esp. autobuild, context sensitive assist. Has a problem with wrapping very long lines and I couldn't get aspell from Cygwin to work properly. Sometimes doesn't catch build errors. Despite minor bugs, this plugin is a must for every LaTeX writer(s). Good work, keep it up!

Ok, it is still in developement. But it is already a marvel. Everything you might expect from a latex editor, AND MORE, honestly.
Even the instalation is straighforward. In 20 minutes I was already coding in a pre-existing latex source I was working on with another editor.

I've been trying to find a working Eclipse plugin for editing Latex. I have tried eTex last year but found it too buggy to use practically. TexClipse is the first I have encountered and probably the only publically available plugin for Latex that works. Functionally speaking, it meets most of my needs for my work on the papers.
There are currently some issues that can be improved:
1. the editor does not work with the CVS perspective. The CVS repository always try to use the default editor for latex documents, but unfortunately the Latex editor does not support this and cause an error. I found one workaround - to add into the file associations of .tex (and many other) files the Text Editor as the default one. By doing this, you can view the CVS files in the CVS perspective and still open the file with the Latex Editor by clicking Open With ... . Of course, the best choice is to let Latex Editor support RemoteFileEditorInput.
2. The build process sometimes have strange problems - some times the build process halts there and sometimes it doesnot build at all. It seems manually deleting the generated pdf file and/or the tmp directory helps. I'm trying to figure out more clues.

Very well done. Great help.
Still I would like some more functionality in the
bibtex part, maybe also some icons or menus.

The idea is very nice! Combining a TeX editor to eclipse is the feature what I need.
However, TeXlipse leaves much to be improved.
Now, I'm going to list its problems.
1. Argument for BibTex program does not work
2. Any .bib file containing multibyte character code is usually reported as containing errors: "The BibTeX file foo.bib contains fatal errors, parsing aborted.", even where the file contains no syntax errors
3. I doubt that files containing multibyte character code may cause other problems, but I've not tested it
4. When a program have been aborted or suspended by an error, builder does not abort automatically
5. Template for "tabbing" environment was not found
X. Despite these problems, I love this plugin, and I'd like to express my appreciation for developping this plugin. Thank you very much!

It´s a great plugin, but there are several bugs. Untill these are not fixed -> i will not rate it higher.
Another thing is that the compiling and debugging is not as good as in other editors (like TeXnicCenter).
So i don´t use it for all my projects.
Hope you will go on improving this plugin.
