Wicked Shell - A non-evil eclipse plugin providing an integrated shell. This plugin enables the use of the system shell directly from the eclipse IDE. It supports different shell types for Windows which are Cmd.exe, Cygwin's bash.exe and MSYS's sh.exe. Additionally, custom shell may be defined. Each shell is provided with command completion which can be adjusted via preferences page.

I agree with many of the other negative comments. This plugin does not work well with Unix like OSes. Tried on a Mac and have the same problem with a non functioning shell that locks up Eclipse when trying to close the view and newly created custom shells never show up in any menus.

Good plugin, very useful content assist & cute icons (really nice integration). Shell border should match with Eclipse Text Editor one and content assist popup shouldn't be so wide. Great work anyway, thank you. Christophe

If I could give this a rating of zero, I would. It's crap! Installing this in a current version of Eclipse on a UNIX machine, the default bash shell does nothing. An angle prompt (">") shows only after I start typing, and there's never any output. Adding another shell (tcsh) doesn't help. The new shell never shows up in the menus. Then, attempting to close the shell views causes Eclipse to lock up. The description is right: it's not evil. To be evil requires thought. This is just a bumbling, lame plugin.

Seems to work OK on CMD.EXE on XP. It doesn't work with DOSKEY macros (aliases), though, so if you have an extensive macro set, this plug-in will make you change the way you work. (Or turn them all into batch files...)

Cannot handle character encodings other than US-ASCII? Couldn't make it work for me (WinXP + Cygwin).

Does not handle character encoding adequately in Linux/Bash. I wasn't able to get it working
