ASPIRE (Application SPecific Improvement of REliability) is a research project started in 2003 with the goal of supporting developers’ aspiration to reliable open source middleware. The idea of ASPIRE is to allow middleware developers to improve reliability by analyzing and evaluating middleware services’ impacts on reliability of a given system, customizing service implementation and reliability mechanisms, and managing the correlated failures between middleware services in a model driven approach. ASPIRE contains a runtime framework embedded in open source middleware that supports to monitor and control runtime states and behaviors of middleware, and a GUI tool that facilitates developers to analyze, reason and make decisions.
