The Directory Management Environment is OctetString's Eclipse based management client for the OctetString Virtual Directory Server VDE. VDE is an LDAP and Database Proxy server providing custom mappings of enterprise data to aid in application integration. VDE also provides load-balancng, routing, and joining between multiple data sources.
DME is intended as server configuration and management system for the VDE product providing server editors, configuration wizards, and server provisioning. The management client includes an LDAP client browser as well as a browse-via-server browser that supports LDAP and RDBMS browsing.
DME provides templates and wizards to enable directory integrators to develop Java and Python (requires pydev plug-in) based plug-ins for the VDE server.
DME can also be extended to allow addition of Eclipse plug-ins that provide new wizards or configuration templates for specific directory server or database products, or configurations for specialized scenarios.
DME is available free of charge to licensed users of OctetString VDE.
