Server-Side Swing Designer : ULC Visual Editor
ULC Visual Editor (Server-Side Swing Designer) allows you to build Swing GUIs in a server-side J2EE architecture. It leverages the UltraLightClient library (ULC) that offers server-side peer classes for Swing, and generates both the client-side Swing components and the server-side peers.
ULC handles the split between client and server, rendering the UI with a Swing-based presentation engine at runtime. Attach event listeners to the server-side peer components, thereby creating a scalable client/server application as easily as a stand-alone Swing application.
The ULC Editor is based on the Eclipse Visual Editor framework and supports the same functions as the corresponding editor for Swing.
Features:
- Palette of ULC Containers, Components and Menus
- WSYWIG Editor
- Drag & Drop design of ULC GUIs
- Create nested Composites and Panels
- View and manipulate the Java Bean composition hierarchy
- Edit properties and layout attributes through the property editor
- Code generation similar to Eclipse Visual Editor
- Multi-Level Undo and Redo
- Seamless Eclipse Integration
- Eclipse-Based Help and Tutorial
- Look and feel and Operation similar to Eclipse Visual Editor
- Receive immediate feedback on user interface and application using the ULC Launcher plug-in

| | User: Anonymous | Rating: 9 | 2004-08-06 12:40:32 | | | | I rate it 9 because
1. Neat, scalable architecture 2. Single language (Java) for UI and Server unlike JSP, MacroMedia... 3. Based on open standards: J2EE, SWING...
It would be nice to make it even more similar to Swing and have some support for graphics.
