This is an early alpha release of JESP (Java Enterprise Solution Platform). It is conceptualized as framework for the rapid development of any information system (IS). Currently a showcase implementing some basics of customer relationship management (CRM) is shipped with this distribution. The included database contains about 1000 artificial generated customer records. JESP itself owns a strong security concept where users are organized in groups and permissions are granted on a role-basis. Both, functional as well as instance based security is implemented in JESP and can be configured on a very fine-gained level. Furthermore, it offers the possibility to track revisions of objects and therefore allows the end-user to monitor every change performed on domain objects (like for example customer records).

To summarize a few benefits, JESP includes/provides following features:
  • Database independent Solution
  • Highly extensible Component Architecture (your inhouse development team can easily extent the application with custom features)
  • Integrated Security Concepts
  • Bookmarking of arbitrary Domain Objects (never search again and again for important information, just bookmark them)
  • Revisioning of Domain Objects (stay informed about what happend to your data)
  • Reporting Capabilities (PDF, RTF, XLS, PPT)
  • Intuitive User Assistance (content assist, quick access for often used actions)
  • *new*Spell Checking (can be seen at the contact editing page)
Technical Basis:
  • Eclipse 3.5 RCP
  • Hibernate 3.x
  • Spring 3.0.x
Downloads:
Please note, this distribution also includes a java runtime environment (1.6.0_x). Hence to check out the software you only need to download the reight version for your operating system, extract it und run jesp.exe. You are not required to install a separate java runtime environment on your machine.
Further please note, this distribution is configured to run in "standalone" mode on one single client machine, but JESP also supports client/server installations.
The user account to get administrative access to the application is admin/admin.

I really hope you enjoy it and would be glad to receive any comments or suggestions. A poject hompage and also a support forum is in progress. If you like to contact me directly, you are very welcome!

Good work. Seems to be a serious framework for rapidly building database centric applications. Beside the good integration of state of the art technologies I realy like the content assistant functionality on text fields and of cause the reporting functionality as it is often missing in other products. Hower i noticed problems generating reports using PPT or RTF. Is it possible to define custom reports in you framework or does it only support reports currently shipped with the distribution? Cheers Robert

Nice application of Eclipse RCP technology. I can imagine a lot of work is still to do, but for the moment and the fact that your software is flaged to be in alpha state it runs stable and I hope there will come more in the future. I'am looking forward Nice Job!
