The main office applications are commercial or if open source like open office developed many years ago. Eclipse Office will use the latest eclipse technologies like model driven development to achieve a far better office, which will enable collaboration, web-enablement. It uses as much as possible existing open source libraries like Apache POI. Export and Imports will be based on XML Transformation. Actually the project is in a very early stage. The main targets are to design the whole office model and develop the first essential components for rendering.
The UI will be based on GMF.
As this will be one of the most complex Eclipse projects developers are needed. Please contact us if you are interested even in smaller parts.
