EPIC Security Breach

Posted by: nathan.g - on Tuesday, August 07, 2007 - 10:55 AM

We regret to inform you that sometime between July 25 and July 26 the security of Eclipse Plugin Central was compromised. An intruder gained unauthorized access to the administrative services of the site and was able to inject code that could potentially affect your system. We believe that users of Microsoft Internet Explorer could be at risk and recommend these users run the latest updated anti-virus and anti-malware software.

We have taken steps to clean EPIC of the malicious code and believe we have solved the problem. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have created for you.

OpenBlueLab, Open Source ERP & CRM Solution, based on a plugin architecture and developped with Eclipse, notified you the release of the OMF project v1.2.14 (plugin OMF : OpenBlueLab Modeling Framework). This update is available on the Forge or on Sourceforge for download.

Many improvements have been realized in this version. We have made an

group meta info on property of a class, use case, association. We have
added too many dialogs to simplify the takedown to change attributes on
operation, property and association.

We have added the possibility to have many diagrams in an only obldi

RSP-UI: review this new project proposal and enjoy pluggable server apps

Posted by: Anonymous - on Tuesday, May 16, 2006 - 10:21 AM

Nine Eclipse community members from Brazil, Canada, France, Malaysia, Sweden, Switzerland and the United States have submitted the "Rich Server Platform - User Interface Framework (RSP-UI)" project proposal to the Eclipse Foundation. RSP-UI is to deliver a Web User Interface composition framework for easily integrating sets of rendering technologies and components for rich, composite, server-side applications. The objective is to give developers more flexibility, ease of integration, freedom of choice and high usability.

The full proposal has been published on the website of the Eclipse Foundation for your review.

RSP-UI is to help take the successful concept of Eclipse/OSGi "Plug-and-Play" components to the server-side.

RSP-UI will leverage the proven Eclipse Rich Client Platform (Eclipse RCP) and OSGi specification, the new JSR 291 (Dynamic Component Support for Java) and established web technologies.

With the recent adoption of large parts of the OSGi specification as JSR 291, widespread use of OSGi on the server-side becomes natural.

The major objectives of RSP-UI are Plug-and-Play flexibility, ease of integration, freedom of choice and high usability.

1. Plug-and-Play flexibility. Today, modularizing server-side applications and reusing these modules in other applications is complex. With RSP-UI, developers are to enjoy a flexible and lean assembly of just the components they need for building, deploying and updating web applications "on the fly".

2. Ease of integration. The server-side world offers a large choice of established rendering technologies to build versatile web applications. But integrating a server-based UI from sets of rendering technologies is cumbersome. RSP-UI will define best practices as to how to "glue" sets of rendering technologies together. So developers can build web applications that are more targeted to user needs, tasks, roles and workflows in the world of service-oriented clients.

3. Freedom of choice. RSP-UI aims to leverage a large variety of proven web technologies that developers can choose and pick from to meet application requirements. So far, integrations with JSP/JSTL, Struts, Wicket, JSF, LZX/Laszlo and PHP are part of project scope.

4. High usability. RSP-UI will provide a workbench layer similar to org.eclipse.ui plug-in which contributes to better user experience of web applications.

The RSP-UI Project enjoys the commitment from Cédric Dumoulin, original creator of Tiles, Université des Sciences et Technologies de Lille, France, Infonoia in Switzerland, OPS4J in Malaysia and Sweden, Truition in Canada, TXE Systems in the United States and Vetta Technologies in Brazil.

EPIC is now part of eclipse.org

Posted by: Anonymous - on Friday, May 12, 2006 - 03:02 PM

We are pleased to announce that EPIC is now part of the eclipse.org web site. The EPIC Alliance (Genuitec, Instantiations and Innoopract) has contributed the EPIC code and content to the Eclipse Foundation allowing EPIC to be the community portal for Eclipse based products and plug-ins.

In the short term, users of EPIC should experience very little change. We will be hosting all of the same content. Over time, we hope to increase the number of products listed and make it easier to find relevant, high quality products that complement your Eclipse development requirements.

The one small change existing users will experience is the requirement to confirm their agreement to the eclipse.org terms of use and privacy policy. We don’t believe this is a big change from the previous EPIC terms of use and privacy policy but it will allow us to have consistency across eclipse.org.

We hope you continue to enjoy and participate in the EPIC community. Feel free to send us an e-mail if you have any questions.
