By popular demand and through applied democracy, you have the opportunity to tell us how often we should allow people to vote for a plugin.
Please cast your vote. This survey will continue through the end of this week. |

OK, just to make it (hopefully) totally clear (based on the other discussion), the last option in the poll is one vote per plugin per IP (for ever), but if you register then you get to cast another single vote per plugin.
If you vote multiple times then only the last one is counted.
The registration option allows people behind company firewalls to cast their individual votes, and the IP-based restriction prevents plugin groups from repeatedly voting for their plugin or against a competing plugin.
Please correct me if that's wrong! |

jskinnersley,
You are correct in nearly all of your assumptions. Except for one. Voters will be limited to one lifetime vote per plugin. You can vote for as many plugins as you want but only once for each. Limiting it to one lifetime vote for the site would seem too restrictive.

By popular demand, only 1 vote will count for a plugin per voting area. The voting database will be refreshed to show only one lifetime vote per IP address for outside and anonymous visitors, and one vote per registered user. You can vote as many times, but only the last vote and comments will be kept.

| Is this in effect now? And what is going on with SWT Designer's votes? A ton all at the same time today, all "outside" and all 10s!!! Surely some mistake? |

| It looks like the vote database was corrupted. Prior to today there were lots of "outside" votes, but they were at various times and values. |

Folks,
There was an error in the script that was designed to only allow a rate update for an existing voter. This script was tested against registered users and worked perfectly. However, when the vote came from an anonymous or outside voter - it updated all the votes from that area with same date and value.
The good news is that the damage was localized for the SWT designer and Exadel Struts Studio, and we have the backup date for it. We will restore shortly after reviewing it to make sure no father damage is applied.
Sorry for the confusion. |
