hi,
I've been using the sysdeo plugin for a while and am very happy with it but have just been moved onto a project where they control Tomcat from the servers panel in Eclipse.
Sorry if it's obvious but I have looked around and can't find an answer: what advantages are there for using this plugin above the default behaviour given in Eclipse via the "Servers" panel?
Apologies if this has been answered elsewhere.

Hello,
In my personal experience I prefer sysdeo. If I remember to run sysdeo you need the WTP installed in your enviroment.
I've seen an important difference:
- With Eclipse's server panel you execute an invocation of Tomcat into your Eclipse enviroment, in other word, you execute Tomcat like a internal server of Eclipse. This is the behavior I´ve seen, if I'm wrong, please somebody correct me.
- With Sysdeo's plugins the behavior is different, this plugins calls Tomcat and runs it in the same mode if you execute Tomcat's executable to run it.
To sum up, in the first case Eclipse load a part of Tomcat and integrate it with its enviroment and Sysdeo launches the Tomcat of your system with all the applications contains it.
I don't know if this explanation is clear, but my English isn't well. |
