Post subject: Noob problem with Jigloo, won't resize components  PostPosted: Oct 24, 2006 - 03:18 PM

Hello, I run Eclipse 3.2.1 and just installed Jigloo using the Eclipse plugin installer wizard, on Windows. Jigloo seems to have installed fine, I can create new Jigloo forms and they appear similar to how I would expect them.

I first tried to create a JFrame, and what I saw was the image of a very small frame, and inside it a tiny square adorned on all four corners with what looked to me like drag-corners, and indeed when I put my cursor over a corner the cursor turned into the drag cursor. That made me think that I could resize the component -- whatever it was, I couldn't tell, it was a tiny square -- by dragging the corners. When I drag, the square elongates as I would expect, but the problem comes when I release the mouse, hoping to end up with a resized component, but the component snaps back to its tiny-square size. The image of the frame itself does not show drag corners, and does not respond when I try to explicitly resize it in the properties editor.

So then I tried adding other components, especially visible ones like JButtons and JSliders, and aside from difficulty finding any place I'm allowed to place them (most of the areas show me a can't-drop-here cursor), when I do get one placed (or when I right click and explicitly create one), it also appears as a tiny square, right where the unknown tiny square is, and i can't resize the new components any better.

So then I thought, damn, I must be doing something really wrong, so let me try to open an example, so I did the New->Other->Gui Forms->Examples->Swing SliderGame Example. And that also opened, but I'm fairly certain it didn't open properly, because it appears just like my brand new JFrame, as a tiny frame with a single tiny square which refuses to be resized the way I figure it should be resized. I imagine it should look like a window with some sliders in it or something.

So, that's where I'm at. I've googled for how to resize a Jigloo component, but I can't find any indication that it happens in any other way that I have tried, which is to drag the corners of the component. I have read the help docs and they only indicate that I should have no problem doing what I'm trying to do. My only thought is that Jigloo is malfunctioning due to my not knowing how to use the tool, an installation problem, or something else.

One last idea: I recently installed MyEclipse 5 and futzed with Matisse, so if there is an incompatibility between those two plugins maybe I'm experiencing that.
