Hello All

i am unable to start tomcat in eclipse

eclipse 3.0
tomcat 5.0.12
j2sdk1.4.1
win xp

it gives me the following error

<terminated> org.apache.catalina.startup.Bootstrap at localhost:4172

Are you trying to start it from inside Eclipse ? Using Sysdeo Tomcat launcher or MyEclipse or something else ?

Many Thanks Rob for posting your reply, i require your help again

the problem is

this what i have in my Office
Tomcat 5.0.28
Win2k
Eclipse 2.0
jdk1.3.1_07
Sysdeo tomcat launcher

if i start tomcat outside eclipse it starts perfectly fine.

but if i try to start inside Eclipse it gives me the following errors

<terminated> org.apache.catalina.startup.Bootstrap at localhost:11279

<terminated> C:\jdk1.3.1_07\bin\javaw.exe(6/7/05 8:18pm)

i have no idea why i am getting this error.

i have set the installed jre in Java to jdk and NOT to jre

also in tomcat jvm settings i choose the one which i set in the installed jre

Also i would like to highlight one more thing here if i point Eclipse to Tomcat 4.1.31, it works perfectly fine

but if i point it to Tomcat 5.0.28, it gives me th above 2 errors.

Rob, i request you to give me your valuable advice on how to solve this.

Also is it becos of compatibility problems

Do you have the CATALINA_HOME environmental system variable set to the correct Tomcat instalation?

Set your JAVA_HOME to JDK 1.5 or above. Hope this will help
